The tech industry’s future depends on having a diverse set of viewpoints, and without women at the helm, it will fail to reach its full potential. A recent study by PWC found that only five percent of tech leaders are female. Moreover, 78 percent of students said they couldn’t name a notable woman in tech.
One major barrier to attracting women to tech jobs is a lack of female role models. Tim Cook is a strong advocate for tech education for girls. As an employer, he has implemented initiatives like Swift Playgrounds to encourage more women to pursue STEM fields. And he believes that more girls should take computer science and coding courses in school.
Sexism in tech
